Twenty years ago, we met during a winter season in France.
At the time, Maurice was working as a chef in France, while both of us were searching for something we could not quite define. We knew there had to be more to life than following the traditional path, even if we could not yet explain exactly what that looked like.
After getting married, we made a decision that would shape the next two decades of our lives. Instead of settling into a conventional lifestyle, we chose to explore the world and create our own version of freedom.
Our first major move was to the Dominican Republic, where we purchased two apartments and started building a life abroad. Like many people considering an overseas move, we quickly discovered that living abroad is very different from taking a holiday. We made mistakes, faced unexpected challenges, and learned valuable lessons that no travel brochure ever talks about.
